The Crocodile Fern (or Microsorium musifolium 'Crocydyllus') might be different than the usual fern-like plant, yet is super nice in its own style. Its textured leaves resemble crocodile skin and make this plant a nice and unusual green touch to any space. It's also a very easy-going plant; it's a great original plant to gift to someone.
Place it in a medium to bright, indirect sunlight spot. Water every 1-2 weeks or when topsoil is dry.
